Who is ACTvet for?

ACTvet was developed for UK veterans affected by gambling harm. Its ACT content reflects the experience of veterans. If you are taking part in a study, your research team can explain eligibility and any study-specific requirements.

What is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy?

ACT is a psychological approach that helps you notice difficult thoughts and feelings, make space for them, and take actions guided by what matters to you. The app introduces this approach through structured steps and exercises.

Is the app free?

ACTvet is free to download on the App Store.

Do I need to share my data for research?

You can review research sharing and other privacy preferences in the app. If you are joining a research study, read the participant information and discuss the study’s requirements with the team before deciding to take part.

How does ACTvet use AI?

AI-personalised reminders are optional and require separate consent. When enabled, a limited, pseudonymised summary is sent to OpenAI to help prepare brief supportive notifications. This feature is not a therapist, a diagnosis service or an emergency monitor. Read how AI personalisation works.

Can ACTvet replace professional support?

ACTvet is a self-directed support app. It does not replace professional care or emergency support. You can find gambling-harm services and someone to talk to on our support page.
